Pesado HD - High Diffusion 54HD Shower Screen

The 54HD is compatible with the LL Breville 54mm except fo or the Barista Express and Infuser Machines that use the EX54HD.  The MVHD is for the 58mm Breville machines.

Introducing the Pesado High Diffusion shower screen. Designed for precision and consistency, eliminating the main issues causing irregular extractions.

Uneven water distribution has always been an issue when trying to achieve consistent extractions, this can be caused by the irregular water flow path through mesh shower screens, smaller surface area coverage and uneven puck infusion. Utilizing 18 channels we can target the exact spots every extraction, resulting in consistent water flow between every shot.

Combined with the unique feature of the outer channels running all the way to the edge of the shower screen, controlling water flow to target the entire puck bed right to the basket edge, giving us complete control over our water diffusion every shot.

54HD not compatible with Breville 54mm single baskets. Only recommended use with double baskets.

Seal Compatibility Notice:

When installing Pesado HD (High Diffusion) Shower Screen, you may notice that your portafilter feels slightly loose. Don’t worry, this is completely normal. The HD screen is specifically designed to work best when paired with the HE (High Extraction) baskets - for the best coffee experience.

If you're not using an HE basket and prefer your portafilter to lock in closer to the 6 o’clock position, here are a few easy solutions:

A. Use a shim behind the group seal.
You can purchase pre-made spacers or DIY your own using household paper materials, adjusting thickness as needed.

B. Try a thicker group seal.
Group seals are available in small size increments (typically 0.5mm or 1mm). 

C. Upgrade to a HE Basket
Pair your HD screen with Pesado HE basket for the perfect fit and performance.

The HD Shower Screen for Most Breville 54mm Machines The Pesado 54HD High Diffusion Shower Screen is built for the majority of Breville 54mm machines — those whose water path enters the group head from directly above and doesn't require a diffusion disc to correct for directional bias. If you're running a Bambino, Bambino Plus, Barista Pro, Barista Touch, or Barista Touch Impress, this is your screen. It's a direct swap for the stock shower screen: remove the centre screw, lift out the old screen, drop in the 54HD, screw it back down with your existing shower screw. No disc, no additional components, no modification. The screen alone delivers the full 18-channel high diffusion system at every extraction.

18 Channels, Edge-to-Edge Coverage, Shot After Shot The stock Breville 54mm shower screen is a basket-shaped plastic or mesh design that pools water before releasing it — and where that water bursts out changes slightly with each shot depending on scale, pressure, and screen condition. The 54HD replaces this with 18 precisely machined channels in 304 stainless steel that direct water to the same 18 positions every extraction, consistently and predictably. The 53mm screen diameter extends coverage significantly wider than the stock screen, targeting the full puck bed to the basket edge rather than leaving the outer perimeter of the puck under-saturated. The result is more even pre-infusion, more uniform extraction, and fewer of the channelling events that create sour or hollow shots. Note: the 54HD is compatible with double baskets only — not recommended for single baskets.

Which Breville 54mm Screen Do You Need? The Breville HD shower screen range has three variants, and the differences matter. The 54HD (this screen) fits: Bambino (BES450), Bambino Plus (BES500), Barista Pro (BES878), Barista Touch (BES880), Barista Touch Impress (BES881, manual dose recommended), and Solis equivalents. The EX54HD is the correct choice for the Barista Express (BES870), Barista Express Impress (BES876), and The Infuser (BES840) — those machines have an off-centre water path that requires the additional diffusion disc included in the EX54HD set. For Breville 58mm machines (Dual Boiler, Oracle, Oracle Touch), use the Pesado MV-HD Shower Screen instead.
